The process of dying my hair from brunette to blonde?

Okay well I really want hair like bridgit mendler on wizards of waverly place. I naturally have medium/dark brown hair. I just dyed it lighter, but I still want it more blonde! Now it has a tint of red in it too. So what I need to know is what hair dye (only out of a box!) should I get to achieve this look? Thank you!!
