Will I be able to reconfigure my Compaq Presario w/o a whole lot of hle?

Apparently I have messed up something while installing a new anti-virus software while remnants of another one was still on my computer. I was trying to download Adobe Flash Player and it says it has downloaded but the computer apparently does not recognize that it has. I called for istance and was told I needed to have the computer reconfigured and it would cost $60.00. The person I was talking to have a very thick Indian accent and it was very hard to understand him. I wasn't sure if going through the process with him would be smooth because I'm not that computer literate in the first place. The computer that I have is about 4 years old and is in very great condition. There's not a whole lot of stuff on it and it's connected to the internet with a broadband connection. Will this be my only option is to have this done over the phone or am I able to handle it another way? Please help. Thanks!
