Since stories in the Bible were picked through, and some eliminated by earthly men,(read on)?

Don't you think that they had "religion promotion" on their mind? So whats to say that these particular stories are the only stories of God and Jesus? Lets just be honest, I'm a Christian, yet I know for a fact studying the history of the Bible that many other stories didn't promote their religion in the light that they wanted, so they were left out. Thoughts?
